The Assignment: Write a report that evaluates the tools and strategies you've discovered that you believe will be essential in researching your topic. The report must have two sections: 1) a short introduction and 2) annotations of eight tools (no more and no less).
IMPORTANT: This is NOT souces yet, but tools. Databases. Search engines. Reference sources. Save actual books and articles for later.
Specific requirements for the introduction: Discuss how your key words are evolving and adapting as you experiment with terms and search tools. Explain how your topic is changing too, if it is.
Specific requirements for the annotation of tools: Find and annotate:
- three specialized databases
- one general search engine
- one specialized search engine
- two specialized print reference books
- two specialized online reference sites
In your analysis, describe materials indexed, how to access these tools, syntax quirks each may have, any unusual field limiters it offers, and anything else that you noticed as valuable.
