The Assignment:

• Prepare an annotated bibliography of nine book and article sources plus two rejects on your topic. (No more and no less!)
• Write a short introductory essay detailing strategies and problems that have come up as you worked.

Specifics for the essay: Basically, this is a "what have you learned so far" essay, but I want details. What key terms, operators and field limiters have been useful and not useful for you? What databases have been most productive and why? Most importantly, what selection criteria have shaped your choices? Don't just parrot back the criteria I gave you in lecture. Think about them; make them your own.

Specifics for the annotations: You must have

• three recent books
• three popular articles (no magazine duplicates, please)
• three trade or scholarly articles
• two books or articles you are rejecting

Be sure the annotations follow the required three-part format exactly, even for the rejects. See the links above right for more information on how to write annotations.

I advise using databases for this part of the annotation. You are more likely to get the quality I expect with them. Search engines are often too general for these types of sources.
