1940's

Larry Press (BSJ/49) worked for 42 years at The Bakersfield Californian as sports editor and daily sports columnist. He is now writing a Sunday column and enjoying the ocean. He lives in Ventura, CA.

S. Dent Williams (BSJ/49) retired in 1991 from public relations director for the Rockwell International Columbus Plant after 30 years with the company. He lives in Reynoldsburg, OH.


1950's

Milton E. Lyon (BSJ/52) is a member of the Newport News, VA, Centennial Celebration Commission. He is also the chairman of the Chesapeake & Ohio Historical Society"s national convention to be held later this year.


1960's

Jo Lambert Blackwood (MSJ/62) is a curriculum specialist for Kanawha County Schools. She lives in Charleston, WV.

Tom Olds (BSJ/63) will be retiring in June from Tenneco Newport News (VA) Shipbuilding as manager of communications to begin a career in horticulture.

Jackie Roberts (BSJ/63) is executive assistant to Nathalie Dupree, a cooking show host, author and speaker. Jackie lives in Atlanta, GA.

Judith Levine Willis (BSJ/63) is editor of FDA Consumer. She lives in Kensington, MD.

Harvey R. Shoemack (BSJ/65) is president of the International Marketing Center, LTD., a sububan Chicago-based consulting firm. He is an instructor of international business at several Chicago colleges. He also counsels U.S. firms on export management and foreign market access. He is a frequent lecturer at corporate meetings and world trade clubs and has developed a comprehensive "Cross-Cultural Marketing/Communications Training Program" for his foreign clients. He lives in Northbrook, IL.

M. Kathleen Roberts (BSJ/66) is working with Goodwill and is the vice president of the Downtown Dayton Kiwanis Club. She is past president of the Miami Valley Chapter National Society of Fund Raising Executives. She lives in Dayton with her two children, both of whom are in college.

Cynthia Boal Janssens (BSJ/69) is a freelance writer/editor. She was elected national vice president of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW). She lives in Grosse Pointe, MI.

Martin Magly (BSJ/69) was named advertising sales manager for Specialized Communications, a Raleigh, NC - based publisher. He lives in Cary,NC.


1970's

Dean A. Hoffman (BSJ/71) is the executive editor of Hoof Beats, a horse publication. He is doing extensive writing for foreign magazines and newspapers, as well as traveling to Europe for racing events. He is married to Linda S. Patton. They have two children, Meredith, 8, and Catherine, 5, and live in Columbus, OH.

Greg Stricharchuk (BSJ/71) was named a visiting professor at Ohio State University"s journalism school. He lives in Dayton where he is news manager for private life at the Dayton Daily News

Kenneth Walker (BSJ/73) co-authored a book, Warriors, which will be released in September. He lives in Louisville, KY.

Brian Friedman (BSJ/78) was named deputy sports editor for the Associated Press in New York City.

John Micklos, Jr. (BSJ/78) was recently elected secretary on the executive board of the Educational Press Association of America. He is the Co-editor of EdPress: The First 100 Years, a book celebrating the group"s 100th anniversary. He lives in Newark, DE.


1980's

Annette Preuss (BSJ/80) is an associate editor in the marketing department of the University of Arizona Extended University. She lives in Tucson, AZ.

Marggi Dobos Roldan (BSJ/80) is the communications director for the National Beta Club. She lives in Spartanburg, SC.

Stephen Johnson (BSJ/81) was selected to participate in the 1996 class of Leadership South Carolina. He is the assistant news editor of THE STATE in Columbia, SC, and chairman of the National Professional Development Committee for the Society of Professional Journalists.

Sue Carroll Molnar (BSJ/81) earned a Certified Association Executive designation from the American Society of Association Executives. She works for Executive Association Management , Inc. and lives in Austin, TX.

Lynnann Schwab Reid (BSJ/81)was promoted to manager of employee communications with Westinghouse Electric Corporation"s Energy Systems Business Unit in Pittsburgh.

Alan D. Miller (BSJ/82) took first place in the investigative story category and series reporting for newspapers of all sizes in the 1995 Ohio Newspaper Women"s Association contest. He is the education writer for the Columbus Dispatch.

Candy Stoner Townsend (BSJ/82) is an independent communications consultant specializing in the health care industry. She lives in Lakewood, OH, with her husband Rob and three-year-old twins, Emily and Hannah.

Janelle Misamore Jessie (BSJ/83) was designated as a Certified Business Communicator through the Business Marketing Association"s Professional Certification Program. She lives in Cincinnati, OH.

Melissa B. Freizinger (BSJ/84) is finishing her master"s in counseling psychology at Lesley College in Cambridge, MA. She is a research assistant at the Mind/Body Medical Institute, Dept. of Behavioral Medicine, Deaconess Hospital. She is working on a five-year National Institutes of Mental Health grant.

Jeffrey E. Fleming (BSJ/85) joined Zeneca, Inc. in April 1995 as in-house employment counsel. His daughter, Audrey, was born in September 1994, and he lives in Havertown, PA.

Jennifer Clark-Varcolla (BSJ/86) is a news anchor-reporter for WJER AM/FM in Dover, OH. She also writes for a physicians trade journal, Modern Medicine, on a free lance basis. She married Chris Varcolla and has one son, Anthony, 3.

Andrea DeeHines Dooley (BSJ/86) is sales manager for Wayne Homes-Newark, Inc. She lives in Thornville, OH.

Joe Capozzi (BSJ/87) is bureau chief for The Palm Beach Post"s North Palm Beach County office. He and his wife live in West Palm Beach, FL.

Deborah Vanderploeg Johnson (BSJ/87) is a staff writer for the Daily Herald in Arlington Heights, IL. She lives with her husband Jay in Chicago.

Deedee Segel Ohlemacher (BSJ/88) is the retailing reporter for the Hartford Courant in Hartford, CT. She married Stephen Ohlemacher in Sept. 1995.

Carol Sumkin (BSJ/88) received her master"s degree in non-profit management from the New School for Social Research in 1994. She is the national director of membership development at the Planned Parenthood Federation of America in New York. She married Andy Golub in May, 1995.

Kevin J. Berger (BSJ/89) is working freelance as a marketing communications specialist in the Cincinnati area. He lives in Mason, OH.


1990's

Bob DiFranco, Jr. (BSJ/90) is a territory coordinator for Pepsi-Cola of Cleveland. He married Sondra Lowry (BSJ/90) and lives in Mentor, OH.

Jeff Noe (BSJ/90) was promoted to editor of Washington, D.C.- based America"s Community Banker. His wife, Tracey (Modic) Noe (BSJ/92) is the chief speechwriter at Blue Cross and Blue Shield national Headquarters. The couple resides in Arlington, VA.

Eileen Caruso Sheil (BSJ/90) is the director of public relations at Health Hill Hospital for Children in Cleveland. She previously worked in media relations for Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital in Cleveland, which took her to Armenia with a medical team of pediatric cardiologists in 1994. She also married Bill Sheil in 1994 and lives in Bay Village, OH.

M. Juri Ammari (BSJ/91) is a public school mathematics teacher in Chicago, where he received a master of arts in education degree from Saint Xavier University.

Sharon Iacobucci (BSJ/91 MS/92) was named director of college communications at Chatham College in Pittsburgh.

Cynthia Sims Koloski (BSJ/91) was married in 1994 to Raymond Koloski. She also joined the Association of American Publishers as director of campus copyright education and Higher Education Division deputy director. She lives in New York City.

Sherry Marie Sierra (BSJ/91) is marketing coordinator/customer service representative for Mountain CAD Corporation. She lives in Charleston, WV.

Laura B. Miller (BSJ/93) is supervisor of corporate communications at The Davey Tree Expert Company in Kent, OH.

Stephanie Roush (BSJ/93) is teaching English in Niigata City, Japan.

Renee Standera (BSJ/93) is traffic manager/news director for WDNY AM/FM in Dansville, NY. She lives in Fresh Meadows, NY.

Amanda Boyd (BSJ/94) is assistant editor of F&W Publications and Writers Digest. She lives in Cincinnati.

Andrea Caruso (BSJ/94) is working at Suburban News Publications in Columbus, OH, as a reporter. She lives in Lancaster, OH.

Kit Newell (BSJ/94) is working on his Ph.D in gerontology/medical sociology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

Michelle DeVault Spalding (BSJ/94) is working at Fahlgren, an ad agency in Toledo as a traffic coordinator. She married Doug Spalding in September, 1995.

Michael Carpel (BSJ/95) is an overnight assignment editor at WJLA-TV7, an ABC affiliate in Washington, D.C. He lives in Germantown, MD.

Kerry Converse (BSJ/94 MSJ/95) is communications director for the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association in Columbus, OH.

Rimjhim Dey (MSJ/95) is an account executive in the corporate/financial division of Edelman PR in New York City.

Allyson Grove (BSJ/95) is a weekend producer/weekday associate producer at WZAD-TV in Moline, IL.

Amy Radick (BSJ/95) is a junior account executive with the Dragonette PR and Marketing agency in Chicago.

Kevin Robbins (MSJ/95) is a general assignment reporter for the Memphis, TN, Commercial Appeal.

Suzanne Holberton Roquemore (BSJ/95) was married in October 1995 to John Roquemore and is working as a secretary at a machine tool company.

Lee Velker (BSJ/95) is an assistant copy editor for Business Insurance magazine and is freelancing at local Chicago publications.

Melissa White (BSJ/95) is working for International Cable Regulatory Commission-Community Television as outreach coordinator in Cincinnati, OH.
