E. W. SCRIPPS SCHOOL OF JOURNALISM Ohio University, Athens, Ohio 45701-2979 Submissions Journalism History seeks articles on topics related to the full scope of mass communication history. They may discuss individuals, institutions, or events. Manuscripts which provide fresh approaches and new, significant understanding about a topic in its broader context are especially sought. The journal also will consider topical essays, particularly if they are clearly argued and well supported with documentation. Authors are encouraged to pay careful attention to the style, maximum length of articles, and publishing interests of the journal prior to submitting manuscripts. Articles for Journalism History should be no more than 6,500 words in length, not including notes. Note citations should follow the text and conform to the Chicago Manual of Style. Detailed and complete documentation in notes is important. A high premium is placed on a manuscript's clarity and readability as well as whether it follows the style manual. Authors should submit four copies of their work and include a cover letter listing their address, telephone number, and email address. Manuscripts are anonymously refereed by the corresponding editors, with authors usually notified within about two months of whether their work has been accepted. When a manuscript has been accepted, which is usually contingent on changes being made, authors are requested to submit a hard copy of it, as well as a copy on an IBM Word disk. They also are required to submit an abstract of about 10 lines in length along with a two-sentence biographical note.
